Hi Monte, I think you could have used a little more DOF with the s/s speed you show, at least you'd probably gotten the foot in focus. It's too tight to the right, leaving the negative space behind the bird, where it doesn't add anything to the picture. A bit of a head turn would have helped too.
Exposure looks good on this end :)

Fabs hit this on the head. More dof would have made this a lot better. Keep posting.

Agree with Fabs too, I think she hit most of it. I wonder if your focus point was on the breast, rather than the eye? You could have traded shutter speed for aperture on this sitting guy, improve your DOF. Head is turned a bit away.

I like the diagonal component to the composition, but more room to the right for sure.

What I noticed 1/2500 f4

This image was created shooting wide open. You could easily stop down to F8 and have plenty of shutter speed with an IS lens. Keeping in mind that this is a portrait and not an action image.
The increase in DOF will be noticeable.
