I sat down near some harlequin ducks and after a while they ignored me and went on with their business, which was fun to watch.

Axel:

Another nice Harlequin image. Nice sharpness, colors and look back head position. I really like the foot out the back. He does seem like he is saying, "are you still here"

The background is nice and complimentary to the bird, the DOF excellent.

I might try a very small crop up from the bottom, to lessen the impact of the foreground, but the closeness of the back of the duck to the bottom would certainly limit how much you could remove without crowding him.

Thanks for sharing

Randy

Hey Axel,
They don't get on those rocks often.....nice angle and sweet look back. Excellent exposure control.....must have been the bright overcast day....very nicely done!

Thanks, Roman! Yes, there was a thin layer of clouds and I photographed them during high tide. It was quite windy and I was pretty much on my own out there.

Again, Axel, a beauty. Only thing I'd work on is the tan blob in the ul. You must have been in heaven that day.

Thanks for the suggestion, Grace! It was a great morning but on my way home I was very grateful that my car has heated seats. :)

Another striking image Axel with a wonderful composition. Love to see them out of the water and the pose in this one is awesome. Spot on exposure and good detail. Another winner !!

How much of a crop is this? How far away were you to them? A keeper for sure. Print it and hang it Axel. I would love to have this one.

I'm just flat out jealous Axel.

Truly appreciate the pose, head turn, background and the exposure.

Thanks, Grady! I just looked at the TIFF file, the crop is 3015 out of 3888 pixels. I guess the distance was about 25 or 30 feet.
