This was shot after an ice strom here in Michigan last year. This is a branch from a Multi Flora Bush (wild rose bush). The BG was really cluttered with these braches and no way to shoot this without a lot of distractions so I blacked out the BG in PS. Fuji S3 Pro., Tamron 180, Tripod, F8

Very interesting. I've tried some abstract stuff with thorns, but not with much luck.

How did you manage to get the black to show through the ice as well when you blacked out the BG?

What an excellent image Mike!

Love the colors and the bubbles in the ice.

Crop off the little nub of ice on the left edge and its perfect in my eyes.

When I saw the thumbnail I said, "Mike Moats" before looking at the name!!
I particularly like the diagonal composition in the horizontal frame. Interesting pattern with great detail and colour. I probably would prefer a hint of colour in BG such as a very dark green but that's only my personal taste.

Impressive image I really like the Bg treatment Mike All about feel and this has it !!! Big Congrats !!!

A great shot Mike. I agree with all the comments made above both praise and suggestions.
