These are the famous Sky Gliders of Toluca, Mexico...This is a religious tradition going back to the time of the Aztecs and the Maya. It was believed that before the harvest, the sky gliders which were composed of four tribal chiefs, would climb a 400 hundred foot pole and wrap their left leg from the spindle at the top and at the mark or call of the medicine man; would jump and gently glide down this pole going around and around to the bottom. The first one to touch ground would get to claim the large amount of the harvest for his tribe or village...:cool:
