Another one from before Christmas at Cocoparra NP. I was chasing a gerygone in the late evening light when the honeyeater came in and started catching the last rays. The background is a little cluttered but it was in a grove of Callitris.

CAnon1d2n with 500/f4 and 1.4X

ISO 400 f8 1/800 exp comp -1/3

Great angle, details and eye contact. Great to see all these species that I'm not familiar with! Since the BG is busy, it might work as vertical crop, too.

Great pose on the bird and good looking unobtrusive perch. I agree that a vertical crop can be good here.

Another vote for vertical crop Rob. :) What a great pose and it is razor sharp. I saw these a few times locally and once even stealing hairs from the mane of a horse for nest building material. Very nice light too on this shot!
