Today I bought my first flash (SB-600), went to the park and did some shots. This one is a portrait of a Serinus Canarius (wild canary , father of all canary birds), a spice that belong to my islands. Handheld, nikkor 80-400 VR and processed with Capture NX.

Yes Harold, it´s a crop. I'll have to read the manual of the sb-600, but I think it will furfill my expectations. Thanks for your comments! :-)

Hi Jose -- like the pose and eye contact - agree with harold - looks a little soft on my screen as well.

Crop is a bit tight - IMHO.
Made a couple of quick changes for you

1. Selectively sharened the bird
2. added some canvas LHS and top via content aware scale
3. Ran some NR on the background only.

Looking forward to more ;)

Hi Jose,
I like the capture and pose, you have a good head angle and good eye contact...I would suggest on toning down the yellows...

I like it Jose Remember the flash will help you with sharpness Are you using BB? Will extend the range just over two f stops !!! Agree with comments and excellent capture !!!

A beautiful little bird, Jose. And I like Lance's enhancement suggestions. Good luck with the flash work.
