As the wind was quite gusty this grass hopper had interlocked his front feet to hold his footing on the heath spotted orchid...
Canon 30D, Tamron 90mm f/2.8 1:1 Macro @ f/9, 1/30, ISO 320, Berlebach wooden mini tripod, remote release, mirror lockup, slight crop for compositional reasons (didn't anticipate the position correctly as the wind finally let off for a second)
Shot at the Sistig-Krekeler Heide nature reserve (which is open to the public on marked footpaths), Eifel area, NRW, Germany.

sharp eyes and head. just wondering if some region from right & bottom were cropped off...
the bright flowers on bottom right tend to distract a wee bit...

Karl I like the sharp Head and forelegs. I might also suggest a tighter crop.

Hey Karl, I really like the comp. The top half of the hopper has exellent details but the bottom half is a little soft, maybe just a slight change in the camera position making the front of the lense parallel with the body. I like Kaushik's idea of a slight crop.
