This bird gave some pretty good looks, wish the BG wasn't so blahh though.

Very colorful bird, I think if you darken the BG a little it would help the subject stand out some more plus tone down the bright spot on the perch they tend to pull the viewers eye off the bird.

Beautiful bird, where did you photograph him? I like the details and eye contact, wish for a bit more head turn towards you and I see a slight magenta cast on my monitor.

Thanks for the C&C, this is another of the birds we got at Khao Yai, Thailand.

Axel, I was wondering if the head angle was acceptable, it's something I have learned a lot about since becoming a member on here.

I'm looking at this on my work monitor and there does seem to be a bit of Magenta haze, I think Don is right about darkening the BG as it looks too washed out, on second glance.

Maybe flash would have helped in this instance, it was not the best light as I recall.?

Hey Paul, Wonderfully sharp image of a way cool bird. Love the colors and love seeing species that I will never see in the wild. It needed a bit more head turn as the bird's head is angled ever so slightly away from you--angled a bit toward you would have been perfect.
