Slightly past its prime--I wanted the wrinkles and folds to have texture against the color. The overall effect I am trying to evoke is something like that of aged sensuality. Does it work?

Olympus SP-570UZ, macro setting, 9.77mm, ISO 125, f3.5, 1/25. Natural light; minimal editing in LR2, no cropping.

Thank you for looking, and comments are most welcome!

Wave upon wave of gorgeous color. I like the lines and textures.

Great color and detail. Very sharp. I tend to prefer my roses a little softer but that's just me. This is very nice!

And welcome to the flora/macro forum. Hope to see a lot more from you.

Nice capture.

Most roses I take are beyond their prime and have all sorts of blemishes.

Thanks for sharing.

This is beautifully made, Mossimo. Excellent composition - my eye follows all the lines through the image. It doesn't feel too tight or have anything extra in the frame.

I do think if you really want to go for a little more of an aged look you could try adding a sepia tint over the top on it's own layer and then use either masking or lowering the opacity of the layer to add just a sprinkle of age to the image.
