Meet Vicente Zapata; no relation to Emiliano Zapata… :)
Vicente is one of the local artisans; resident of the town of Taxco, Mexico. Mr. Zapata is a third generation pottery man. He told me that his father taught him to fire clay at the early age of ten.
The pieces that are on display, usually take about four days to do from scratch…Vicente also makes custom pieces for a few of the flower shops in Mexico City which provide him with a steady flow of work.
