I have been saving all my processed images as TIFF files preserving the layers. I can open, resize, sharpen for print and print without issue. There have been several comments indicating many of you save your processed images as PSD. What is the advantage of this? Is there a disadvantage to saving as TIFF?

Short answer;
Currently there is not really any reason to save in PSD but before TIFF V6, you could not save a TIFF with layers or masks, transparencies, alpha channels etc, and the file sizes were much larger than PSD. But today things have changed and even Adobe seems to be going away from PSD.
So really its just a habit with me at least since I have been using PSD for so long.

Also just FYI Adobe now holds the copyrights for PSD and TIFF.

I'm with Robert. Howerver, I still save my images in PSD.

Ed if I'm saving in layers I will use the PSD format. Easy to find and know at a glance.
