This was one of the first images I managed to capture of a Kingfisher erupting out of the water, most of the time I'd clip a wing or get the timing all wrong.. :o hoping to improve on this type of image this year....

Image cropped from a landscape orientation, not keen on the big blob of water on the left wing tip, tried to clone it out but it looked wrong...

Techs 1/1600 @ F4 EC-1 ISO 250
1DMK11 N 70/200F2.8 Mounted on a monopod and placed just above the water.
Fired with a cable release
Area baited to attract fish.

Thanks for looking

Congrats on a really cool capture, and a difficult one at that. More eye contact would have been a big plus but the wing position and water droplets help to balance things out. Here's a repost with the droplet cloned out.

Great capture, the wing position and droplets really add to the image. As mentioned, a bit more eye contact would have been great.

I downloaded the image and cropped the water out and I think it looks more interesting and clean, but that would´ve benn just my personal aproach if the shot was mine.. but is not :(
Congratulatons on a very nice image, action, pose, details, mood, all looks great to me! Congrats!

Awesome!

I agree about the eye, however just capturing it is a feat.

Eye contact or not, the action you had captured is absolutely awesome. Doug's little PP work shows what is possible and did it expertly. This image is a total stunner in my humble opinion. If anything, it just looks a little off level, a slight CCW rotation perhaps?
