Pretty graphic capture. I like the angle and details and find the crop a bit tight. What was he feeding on, a duck?

To me, this shot is about blood and cold. Although I like your rendering, I would be interested to see a different version where a lot of saturation was added to the reds and a blue tint was added to the snow. This would make the image bloodier and colder.

Excellent sharpness and eye contact, Desmond. Good clean whites highlight the bird and prey well. I might clean up the grey spot on the left edge and the feather at the lower edge.

Killer eye contact and detail, agree with Tony about grey spot on the left.
