Yard feeder set-up + blind. After taking great care setting up perches, I found myself taking some images of the birds UNDER them too :-) I was happy this guy chose a cleaner area to forage from. Only 4 tiny niger seeds to clone out! Just out of sight is a veritable mess of dispersed seeds and empty sunflower seed-shells...needless to say most of the "ground shots" opportunities are not worth it until a fresh coating of snow covers it all:)

Canon 40D +100-400L @400mm, aperture priority, eval metering, 1/640s., f/6.3, ISO 640, +2 EC, natural light, handheld, just about full-frame.

This one works well Daniel. The even bright background accentuates the bird well. Good positioning him in the frame and just the right amount of real estate around him.

Good composition and exposure control. The signature is overwhelming.

Nice pose. I love the snow mound and clean BG. I believe some S&H (Shadows and Highlights) would improve this image. You might also want to clone out those two snowflakes in the upper left corner.

I like the snowy perch. Good job with the exposure. Agree about cloning out the two snowflakes.

Boy, I like the composition and the + 2EC was spot on. I'd like to see a little more contrast in the mound of snow were the shadow areas are, would create some dimension. Diffuse light works well even hues and tones in bird with no contra-shading
