I've tried for many years to master the art of catching the flies in the air.
Finally I succeeded somewhat and the key was to learn their behavior and to foresee their moves.

Nicely done, Thomas. That fly is about as sharp and clear as you could want it to be in flight! I do think there's something going on in the BG - either noice or posterization - or maybe jpeg compression...not sure.
I'd see if you could smooth it out a bit so it looked as great as your insect does!

Very good capture of this very hard subject. Color is good; sharpness is great. I like the hint of the wings showing.

Thanks for the comments.I think the compression makes the BG look noisy. In TIFF
all looks fine to me.

Thomas,
Excellent shot, its such a different perspective. Given the situation the DOF and focus are very nice.
In a perfect world where you control everything a few millimeters of extra DOF would be nice just beyond the eye.
This is definitely something I need to try, thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Thomas, a technically difficult shot to get and you did super job, you have excellent advice above, the detail is very good, wonder what your shutter speed was? I might have rotated the shot left or right just to add a bit of drama.

Thanks!
About rotating the picture,I don't know.In real life they're almost all the time horisontal.
But I have other pictures from different angles which are more intresting.I'll probably post
some of them here.
