Dirt Bird (Utah)

Inspired by Arties "Dirt Birds" (a term I had not heard before) the Pied Billed Grebe is generally not considered to be a photographic target here in Utah. So, I concentrated on trying to get a pleasing image today.

Not a very common bird for me. I like the details, reflection and calm water. It needs a bit CW rotation and I would apply some NR on the BG. A slightly lower angle would have made it even better. I might crop it a bit tighter and there is a S/H halo around the head and back.

Great reflection and detail. I agree with Axel on the NR and I too see a slight halo around the head. I like the slightly rising angle (he was swimming away?). I might try a tighter crop too just to see but I like it as presented.

Lovely light, pose and water with refelections and ripples. Head turn works well with slight going way direction. Agree re trying a slightly tighter crop.
