I have Friday off, so in the morning I plan on going out somewhere local. Anyone have any good suggestions as to where I should go?

Bryan,

What do you want to shoot? It is supposed to be fairly cold on Friday. Normally on a weekday day off i go to Fort Desoto but I think it will be too cold for my taste to get wet and muddy as I do not have waders.

I probably would go to Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge--There is a spot to park cars on Blackpoint drive not too far after a right turn that I like for sunrise. It tends to be what I would call a landscape with some birds in it.
It has the advantage of keeping you close to your warm car.

Robert Amoruso has done well from the Canaveral National Seashore at sunrise.

Sorry I should have mentioned that in my first post. I am pretty much up for anything tomorrow. I was thinking birds/wildlife, but being pretty new to it, I have not had a lot of luck with it yet. I was thinking maybe trying that in the early morning and then maybe trying some landscapes and architecture later on.
Thanks for the tips though I may try Merritt Island. I don't mind the cold so much, in fact its kind of a nice change from the past few weeks around here.

I had planned on taking my boat out Friday but am disappointed in the forecast regarding the really overcast conditions.

In addition to the already mentioned spots look here http://floridabirdingtrail.com/ for ideas. Also on Feb. 1st the Orlando Wetlands Park reopens which is pretty close to Oviedo.

Tosohatchee which is in Christmas is never crowded and is worth a visit.

Yeah I use http://floridabirdingtrail.com (http://floridabirdingtrail.com/), but have only been to two of the places on there. One being the Geneva Wilderness Area. That one is my favorite so far. The other was the Lake Jesup wilderness are. I did not really care for that to much, but I may give it another shot at some point.

I was thinking about Tosohatchee, but wanted to see what others might suggest before I made a choice. The other spot I was thinking about was Lake Proctor in Sanford. Anyone have any input on that area?

I am really hoping that its not to cloudy in the morning. but we will see I guess.

Thanks again for the tips so far.
