Beautiful bird, but what I'm missing most here is a catchlight in the eye. Fill flash would have helped with that, and also with the shadows on the bird and the perch. A bit of clone work needs to be cleaned up in ULC. Interesting choice of crop.

I agree with Daniel. This is potentially a really nice image but the eye area needs to be lightened up a bit. There is a catchlight there but it needs to be brought out. In the repost I simply used the sharpening tool on the catchlight to increase contrast between pixels. Seems to work. Also brightened up the whole image using Levels and boosted the saturation in blue and yellow channels just a little.
