Common Dusky-Blue (Candalides hyacinthina)

Hi to all

A common butterfly around Sydney which has a beautiful top side view.

I'm working on getting a decent shot of one with it's open wings.

Excellent image, Ari. My only wish is that the tips of the antennae were in better focus. Otherwise, everything else looks perfect to me. The wings are sharp. The color is excellent. The grass perch looks good. I like the way it bends in the frame. And the background is excellent. Very well done, Ari.

Very beautiful.
I like the composition and the lighting.
Perhaps a bit more contrast on the butterfly can help.

Very simple & elegant composition. Might increase the contrast on the butterfly & perhaps sharpen the wings a wee bit.

Hey Ari, very nice image, with good details and good looking BG. It would have been nice with he antenaes in focus but still good image as is. Well done.

Nicely done, Ari. I, too, wish the antennae were a bit more in focus and also feel the contrast could be tweaked to brighten the insect just a bit more. Overall, it's a lovely image, though.

Lovely BG and BF, I like how the blade of grass provides scale for the BF and gives the viewer a sense of how small and fragile it is.

HI Ari

You got your work cut out with these guys! :) The best chance of open wings you would get at dawn otherwise I found them almost impossible to stalk. well done on this, all nits mentioned.

I will call you in the next day or so, still haven't checked the raptor nest in the mountains, but the Kingfisher is around!

I agree with Ed about the antennae but everything else is excellent. I know at this FL it's very hard to get everything in focus, the dof just isn't there.

Thank you all very much for your comments, appreciate them all.

You are right Art. I would have loved to of taken it at f/16, but then the BG would have been distracting.

Cheers
Ari
