Captured this image a few years ago in Yellowstone N.P. It was impossible to get any closer so I chose to work on habitat images..

Well done Dale. The dead tree is a perfect leading line to guide you right to the ML. I tried a browser crop and find I like having him further up in the frame. I cropped above the first large branch above his head. The rocks offer a nice texture to the image.

I would have died happy to get this image! Crop or no, excellent habitat.

Great shot! Really shows the enviroment. Pretty precarious resting place!

Neat image. Although shot at a downward angle, his looking down at something and the hanging, moss covered tree trunk indicate a canyon ledge perch where he can keep an eye on things and still makes me feel he's above me. Just the kind of place I'd expect to see one (but never do).

I came back to this one, thinking about my crop suggestion and read what Steve said on the looking down perspective. I feel now that the original crop works well as the tree leads you down and to the lion. The bottom works as you would not want the dead tree truck going out of the frame. Nice going Dale.

Dale,

I would not change a thing. This is one of those images that define a career.

Best,

Dale just a great image here. I realy likethe fact that the cat definitely has its eyes on you but remains completely at ease likely because of the distance separating you. I bet that this would look wonderful printed poster size.

Dale,
I love the framing of the mountain lion by the dead tree. The f11 aperture has given sufficient depth of field to the environmental portrait. Great image. I agree that this would look good in a big print.

Cheers,
