This picture of a captive Kea in a large walk-through aviary has been edited to the best of my limited PS Elements ability.
Would love to see what an experienced PS editor could do to improve the image.
Details : Early afternoon full sunlight (feeding time).
Pentax K10D and Tamron 70-300 @ 70mm.
400 ISO 1/1000 @ F5.6 no EV adjustment.
Multi-segment metering.
Cropped & straightened.

The pose is interesting but the BG is quite busy and I wish the head were better lit. Fill flash would have helped here. The bird is too tight in the frame and the critical focus seems to be on the far wing.

This is a tough one due to the issues that Axel brought up. Here's a repost that tries to make the most of the image.

Thanks Doug.
Huge improvement.
Really like the eye and better balanced colours.

Great to get a flight shot showing both underwing and overwing colours, Ian. Doug's repost is a good improvement.

I see you're in Rotorua and understand there is a raptor centre there ?

Wingspan is a great place - well worth a visit if you're up this way. I haven't been in a while but am hoping to get there during the holidays. My last trip was when one of the kids went on a school trip - only had my D70 then I think - so will be nice to go with newer gear and have a better opportunity for flight images.
