Hey Tom,
Even though this one shows the vastnass of the fiel.....my eye is drawn to the favorite part of the image.........the road leading to the mountains. IMO this would have been more effective as a vert.....with the lava FG and the road leading to the mountains....cropped just to the right of the central rock on the bottom....we'll se what the others chime in.

Hadn't thought of a portrait version before. Interesting idea, something along the lines of:

Tom,

I think you have an effect composition in two different versions. The lines of the image, the lava flow, the road, even the clouds carry you into the image. I like the dark saturated tones of the image. A real winner.
