One of the images I made yesterday while off for the holiday - this was taken at a nearby fountain that has frozen and is as high as 8' in the center. Lots of great ice opportunities there!

Canon 40D, 70-200mm f/4L USM
f/14 @ 1/250, ISO 400
Early morning sun, no flash, handheld
Manual mode, Sunny WB, pattern metering
Processed in ACR & CS4; small crop, levels & curves adjustments to bring out the deep blues and high whites.

Jules, I like the composition alot and the colors rock!!! The only little teeny nit is the UL corner looks a little hot and pulls my eye upward, also a tiny sliver upfront pulls my eye from the center .That said Great job on this esp. HH in the cold!! I wouldn't be able to stop shivering!

I like this alot... the blues came through really well. I wonder how this would look in B&W.

Love the different shades of blues in this Julie. Find my eye going all over the frame, well composed. Does look icy cold.

Hi Julie, lovely colors and interesting subject! If you would have said this was taken in the antarctic I would have believed you. I would consider cropping the image from the left. It gives more focus to the icicles in the center and makes the large white area in the UL less distracting and instead draws attention to the nice contrasty area in the whites. See how you like this.

Not bad, Jerry! Nice work. Thanks for taking the time to show me an alternative crop. I really appreciate it!

Sensational work Jules!

I really like everything about this shot. I do like what jerry has done with the crop.
