Here's another image I shot with the inexpensive $149.00 Sigma zoom macro lens. Pretty good details for a cheap lens.

Indeed! I know a lot of the explanation is the ability of the photographer. But, do you have other explanations? Why bother with expensive lenses?

Hey Anita, I did some tests indoors with this lens against my Sigma 180 and the 180 was sharper (which it should be at $900.00). But with good focus and a little extra sharpening in photoshop you get pretty acceptable images for $149.00. This lens is an inexpensive option for those starting out in macro and not ready to spend a lot of money for a dedecated macro lens.

It does give a nice result, Mike! I agree with you that you don't have to have the most expensive lens to get good results as long as you know the limitations of the lens and what it will or will not do well. This one seems to do a great job on macro work!
