Sandbar

I spent some time yesterday walking the sandbars on the Arkansas River. When you really look closely, there's some amazing things to photograph. I found this lone oak leaf and it grabbed my attention. I really like the simple sand background and the monochromatic nature of the shot.

I love the simplicity of your composition and the detail in the sand and leaf. For some reason, though, I'm not loving the monochromatic look...it feels a little flat to me. Probably just my own personal taste but I find myself wanting the sand to be lighter than the leaf and the shadows to be darker.
