When I was at the Aviary doing their book, I took a couple minutes
of rest. As I was sitting on the bench, I'm watching this Trumpeter
approaching my lens by the rail.

I thought, how cute. So I pull out my point n shoot and take that
picture.

What you don't see is what happened right after that...me making
a dash toward the bird.

Turns out when he stretched his neck, he saw his reflection in the
glass. What does he do? He starts pecking at the lens!

I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere :)

Another reason to always use a lens hood!!! Great photograph Doug and I enjoyed the story...hoping that the lens survived without a scratch.

Hmmm, I wonder where my hood was?

With my luck, the hood would've killed the bird somehow :(

Cool capture Doug and quick timing to get it when you did. I can see there are many benefits to having a hood !!!! Thanks for sharing this most interesting image.
