Wow, Alfredo! Nice Robberfly! Perfectly exposed and no signs of the flash going off!!! I keep looking at the yellow spot on its side...wondering if that's an egg or larvae by any chance?

I do personally think it's a little bit tight in the frame - I'd put a bit more room on the left side if you have it.

Everything else - BG, DOF -it's all great. You really nailed this one. The only thing that would have added a bit to the composition would be a few steps to the left to get more of a frontal / side view but then I'm sure your DOF wouldn't have been this fantastic. Everything's a tradeoff...

Nice going, Alfredo. Merry Christmas!

Excellent, Alfredo. Beautiful background, nice perch and most importantly, very nice detail on the fly. Well done.

Hey Alfredo,
Nicely done as mentioned above......a hair better angle.......would have put it over the top.

Since Alfredo hasn't answered, the yellow spot is one of the halteres (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halteres), the vestigal wing that is used as a balance organism by true flies. A good location for information on fly morphology is here (http://www.ento.csiro.au/biology/fly/fly.html).

Warm regards,
