Thanks Grace! I love the break the rules COMP here with that big wave behind me. I had to tape my flash bracket in the hole because the bracket would not click at first. There was frozen snow/water in the opening from the previous day when I worked for six hours in a blizzard soaked to the bone. You gotta love it. And, no Better Beamer in fear of that 20 knot NE breeze... It was fun. On the way back I made some cool images of the beach grasses in the snow.

And to think, I weigh about 188 in ths image. Imagine that I once weighed 264 pounds!

I was planning on going tomorrow (Tuesday) to look for snowys but after seeing Grace's picture.....brrrrrr, now I am not so sure (although it is supposed to be warmer). Wish I could have met up with you all but I was snowed in here 2 hours north until this morning! Anyone going to be around tomorrow?

PS If I can locate any of the owls will I have enough reach with a 300 and 1.4X?

Artie
Is that not an 800mm? :)

Hi Akos, That was an 800 that I borrowed from Canon. I now have my very own and love it. You should subscribe to our free Bulletins--I did a review of the 800 in Bulletin 283. You can check it out here:

Hi Deborah, I am sorry that I missed this and hope that you have found a snowy by now. A 300 with a 1.4X and a 1.6 camera might be enough especially if you are by yourself as the bird(s) are more approachable than if you are with a group. In any case, you can always create a nice birdscape with your rig--be sure to place the bird in one of the corners.

Thanks for your membership support; I look forward to meeting you somewhere down the line.
