Red Kite ( Milvus Milvus ) almost driven to extinction in my country from persecution by gamekeepers and farmers. This bird has been re-introduced in some parts of my country and is now starting to spread out, although there is still illegal poisoning of this species and many more of our raptors going on today...

Taken from a tower hide, baited with meat.

Techs: 1/2500 @ F4 EC-1/3 ISO 250
1DMK11 N 600F4 Tripod and Gimbal head

small crop from the bottom.

Thanks for looking.

I like the pose, details and BG and would give it more room top and right. I find it a bit tight in the frame as presented.

Lovely eye contact and painterly BG. Agree with Axel re more room top and right. Shows the notched primaries well. Sad to hear of the ongoing persecution. Was similar ignorance with our NZ Harrier but now thriving well (aided by roadkill introduced possum pests!!)

I'll have to practice my PS skills as this bird came a bit too close, I'll need to add some canvas to the image to give it more room.

Many thanks for the comments.

Great capture, my only thought was a bit more canvas. hate to hear stories of animals like this.

Like the pose and wing position, but for my taste it is a little tight by the tip of the right wing.

Is this from Gigrin Farm? Would love to go there some day, even if Red Kites are far more common in the southern part of Sweden (Scania) than it is in the UK itīs still hard to get close enough.

Agree with Axel and with Tony on the room, but otherwise I think the image is fantastic.

It's easy to add a little canvas, and that will really help your photo. Great eye contact. Love the near wing position and underwing detail. I'd like a little separation between the far wing and the head, but I'd take this photo any day!

The kite pops from the BG nicely Tony, and superb detail shown all over. Well captured.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments, I'll make sure to add some canvas next time.

Yes Daniel, this was taken at Gigrin Farm and if you get the chance for a visit, go, it's well worth it.
