I shot this today in a 30 to 50 mile hr. winds with driving lake effect snow.

This gold finch looked so sad today looking down in despair as the snow flew

The photo does seem to show a few second thoughts on the bird's part. The angle of the driving snow, lowered head, and the snowy perch compliment each other nicely.

I like the mood, perch, pose and snow in the BG and would sharpen the bird some more.

Love the falling snow in this image and a good composition with nice catch light in the eye. Interesting pose that tells quite a story. Normally I would like to see a slight head turn but this one works for me. Many thanks for sharing.

I really like this one! The atmosphere and mood you created with the dark BG, snowfall and forlorn looking goldfinch says it's gonna be a long winter. Beautiful.

Thanks everybody for looking and critiquing as it is a great help to make better images.

Looks like your flash synch . is set to "1st curtain". This gives you snow with tails looking like it is falling upwards. Try setting the synch. to "2nd curtain" and the tails will be reversed.

Excellent pose and composition. The flash light is too strong for me.
