This image was created on the Quebradas Back Country Byway (http://www.byways.org/explore/byways/2090/ and http://www.blm.gov/nm/st/en/prog/recreation/socorro/quebradas_backcountry_byway.html). The Quebradas Back Country Byway is an unpaved county road approximately 24 miles extending from San Antonio, NM to a few miles north of Socorro, NM and running east of Socorro. Andy Rouse, British nature & wildlife photographer extraordinaire in attendance at Artie’s 2007 Bosque IPTs joined me on the Quebradas for some scenic photography. Inspired by Fabiola Forns’ previous day creation of rotational blurred images of Snow Geese, Andy suggested trying similar with wide-angle lens, small apertures and handheld. This image was one result. I don't know the tree's species yet.

Canon 1D Mark III
Canon 15mm Fisheye
1/20 sec, f/22, Av, Evaluative, No EC, ISO: 50
Handheld and rotating the camera about 45 degrees while holding down the shutter and making multiple exposures.

Is this a selected single exposure from multiple attempts or have you layered a bunch together? I think I'm seeing an axis of rotation in the frame. Looks like the kind of thing that would be fun to try with date palms out here.

Wow! Looks like a fiery tornado. Super cool, or umm hot . . . In any case, I like it.
