Can't think of a better place to post my 10k than right here in ETL, its just like sharing with family !!!!

This fine image is not new, was made about three years ago during Hurricane Katrina. I had lost power and had nothing much to do, getting bored so I decided to photograph.

My first thought turn to settings, decided to go with a low ISO because form experience the image would have rich shadows and want to keep the noise down. Also wanted lots of dof so I placed the camera on a sturdy tripod assuring sharpness with the long exposure. Settled on f 16.

Did take my time in framing so I would not loose any pixels and could make a fine print. The PhotoShop works was interesting and went full out for optimum quality..... even pixelated my Gaussian blur then feather it 100% I hope all my hard work shows !!!

ISO 50
Av -1/3
No flash

Comments welcome and much appreicated

My beloved husband, you are a RIOT :)

I think you should clone out the small distraction on the UL and crop a bit off the right for a stronger composition.

Maybe try a vertical crop and do away with the distraction in the UL that Fabs mentioned.....:)

Congratulation Al!! I don't think anyone pointed out that it needs a little sharpening as well, otherwise a fine image. I hope I can do something as good as this one day!!

Inspiring:)

Much better in the repost. The monochromatic palette is really what takes this one over the top!

Al,
This should really be in "Out of the Box" wait I'll start a new forum, "Out of Your Mind"!

The only thing I can offer is while I love the composition and clean background, the shadows were a little blocked up.

Here is the histogram after my slight adjustment.

Congratulation Partner!
That's almost 10x the posts I have?

Congrats, Alfred! Far be it from me to attempt a critique of the master's work. The fact that I don't "understand" the image only proves to me that my skills (such as they are) simply need lots more work. Seriously, Alfred, I take this opportunity to thank you for ALL your critiques of my posts. They have been very helpful! And when I get to 10,000 perhaps I'll be able to capture a similarly beautiful (?) image.

Now this is totally unacceptable Maestro...I see snow and noise every where. You clipped the wings on your subject, the capture angle is too steep, the color rendition is the pits. The eye is out of focus, I see dust spots all over the background. You even shot with the sun in your face...hmmm...I think its back to bird school 101, and fundamentals of photography 102....;)

Don't worry...I'm right behind you...

A BIG CONGRATS MAESTRO on the big "10"...

Hi Alfred,
Congrats on the 10,000th!........that was even hard to type!
Laugh all you want.......but MOMA (museum of modern art in NYC).......has 3 canvases......at least 12 foot by 4 foot......of the exact same thing.........and they are considered priceless. My recommendation.........go for it!...............there is a precedence!
........but I do want the 15% commision on priceless!
Hope to see you and Fabs in a few weeks!

Al, I have only been posting for several months, but I can't believe that all the "experts" haven't mentioned that you should have moved a little to the left when shooting this image. I'm surprised that someone of your caliber wouldn't have known this. Congrats on your 10,000th. Looking forward to the next 10,000. Hopefully I'll be with you the day you photograph it.

I'm looking at this on a calibrated monitor, and it seems a bit soft to me. I think it needs some sharpening! LOL
