I posted this more for the wow factor than any photogenic qualities. The image was taken from a canoe in the boundary waters north of Ely, MN. This is easily the largest wild snapping turtle I have seen. Just before spotting this one, I heard a splash and my companion said he saw an even larger turtle drop into the water. Oh, the one that got away!

Turtles are always a fun shot. I'll post mine later. How big IZZZ this turtle??

Big enough not to flee when approached by two men in a canoe! I looked for an image that included our canoe or one of us but unfortunately I didn't have the presence of mind to take any, apparently. I'd guess the shell was maybe 2x3 feet. It must have easily topped 100 lbs.
