I am working on exposure, I used a 580 EX flash, off camera to the left with a soft box to difuse the light. I think that I was pretty lucky on this one! This guy is about 2 inches long and this was shot with a 100 f/2.8 macro.

Camera Canon EOS-1D Mark III
Exposure Time 0.04s (1/25)
Aperture f/11.0
ISO 400
Focal Length 100mm (130mm in 35mm)
Flash flash fired, compulsory flash mode
Exposure Program manual
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Exposure Mode manual
White Balance auto
Color Space sRGB

Stuart, luck favors the prepared! Wonderful shot and I love these little guys. His left foreleg seems a bit odd - is it under a petal?

Bold colors and high impact !!! Dark bg sure make the little guy stand out My eye is drawn to the throat area It sort of blends with the flower Great find and fine image Stuart !!!

Hi Stuart,

Studio or in the field?
Hey I like it, how did you get the frog to pose like this? I normally dont like black BG closeups but this is nice.

If this was an indoors shot I would have rather had the front petals show more since the frogs finger is too close to the bottom edge.

Hey Stuart,
The pose really makes this shot. Not the standard frog shot looking straight ahead. Nice job on the image.
