I used a tight crop since the head position blends into the body and is harder to define. Canon 300mm F2.8 x 1.4, F5.6, IS-2, handhled, 25 mph winds that afternoon

I like the tight crop - it does bring us into viewing the head. Not sure if its the light or oversharpened that's showing up the wing tips.

Nice shot of a typical hunting posture for these guys, and I too like the composition. Not sure abot the halos.
