I finish my second and final workshop today. The Bosque is really starting to come into its own after a somewhat slow start. Lots of birds and lots of action. I spent much of today photographing with my 600mm f/4 and my 50D hand held. It's tough work, but I had loaned my 500mm f/4 and tripod to my girlfriend who was down for a visit. This is a Blue Goose from earlier today. The 50D handles the 600mm f/4 with ease.
I ran into Artie this morning, and he was demoing the new 800mm f/5.6. He was kind enough to let me use it for a while. After 400 flight frames with the 600mm f/4 today, the 800mm lens was a welcome change of pace. It's quite a bit lighter than the 600mm, focuses quickly and accurately, and produces sharp images. Thanks Artie!
