I finish my second and final workshop today. The Bosque is really starting to come into its own after a somewhat slow start. Lots of birds and lots of action. I spent much of today photographing with my 600mm f/4 and my 50D hand held. It's tough work, but I had loaned my 500mm f/4 and tripod to my girlfriend who was down for a visit. This is a Blue Goose from earlier today. The 50D handles the 600mm f/4 with ease.

I ran into Artie this morning, and he was demoing the new 800mm f/5.6. He was kind enough to let me use it for a while. After 400 flight frames with the 600mm f/4 today, the 800mm lens was a welcome change of pace. It's quite a bit lighter than the 600mm, focuses quickly and accurately, and produces sharp images. Thanks Artie!

The foot position is very interesting, gives this goose a more elegant appearance. Taken at the Farm Deck? Have you had any good south winds at the Farm Deck?

Taken pretty far around the farm loop (well past the Farm Deck). Most of the wind has been blowing from the north this week.

Lovely landing posture Doug, and I like the feather detail on the under wing. Well captured.

I don't know how you do this Doug. You must be built like the governor of California! Superb image, perfectly sharp, great light and colour and wing angle.

I know someone who started lifting weights to help him handle a 500/4. What's your secret?!
