The hoopoe appeared out of nowhere and I have 3 seconds to take the lens and shoot. I didn’t have the time to change settings; even the Servo AF mode is used. Photographed from some 5 meters.

Hi Nikolay, A very nice and sharp image. The two yellow OOF flowers on either side of the Hoopoe in hte BG are abit of a distraction, which you could not have avoided. If you had time moving to the left might have avoided them- as they say better said than done. A great image.

A handsome bird, and I really like the low perspective here. I like the oof yellow flowers which repeat the small yellow flowers next to the bird. Very pretty environment. A nice opportunity and good capture. Handholding the 500 yet!

Ah, you got him! Only wish you had turned the camera vertical to get more of his legs.

You even got the partial crest rise!!!!

Spot on, Nikolay. An image to be proud of. Good detail and nicely exposed despite your unavoidable haste.
