Jules wanted an image showing more of the South Beach scene than the one posted at Travel. I did try a few of these for a record image and you need a somewhat sharp image to make it work. Went for high ISO ,,,, 6400 on the D300 and it does produce a massive amount of noise.... but it did produce the intended image !!!

The first post has some noise reduction but not the second. The image is out of the camera with zero adjustments, I like framing in camera as much as I can. Can give it a try see if you can reduce noise, can't imagine a better image for it :)

Comments welcome and much appreciated

just goes to prove that a properly exposed image shows the least amount of noise. nice compo, al. do you use the NR in CNX2? it is really nice, but i cant compare to any other programs because it's all i ever used!!!

My attempt, just following Artie's settings.
Don't have a plug-in so I used the CS4 NR feature.
strength 10
preserve details 45 percent
reduce colour noise 45 percent
sharpen details 25 percent
remove jpeg artifacts checked
Was going to try advanced in the channels but didn't know what I was doing

It seemed to dull the colours in the clothing down and the highlight on the woman's shoe so I erased them back in :)

Needs more work on the sidewalk area......

Hey Al, Where's the shot with all the wild animals? Great job Lance. What a great evening we had. We should do this monthly. I'll post some of mine next.

Hi - I used a maybe unconventional route - my NR was applied with with RawTherapee V2.3 really a RAW converter but can handle jpg's as well, applied some luminance NR and Colour Nr with edge tolerance turned on. Would be intresting to see what it could do with the raw file.

Ohh - its free as well - use the 2.3 version the latest beta is unstable on vista at least.
