This drab songster arrives in south-eastern Australia in October. It has a rollicking territorial song which it gives while flying over its chosen bit of bush

Canon1D2N with 500/f4 and 1.4X
ISO 400 f11 and 1/640 exp comp -1/3

Don't usually like the square crop but there was a lot of rubbish in the way

cheers Rob

Thanks Peter. The 'artefact' next to the bird's leg is probably an oof grass stem as I did no cloning, only cropping. Il kie what you've done with the rest of the image.

cheers Rob

Great capture, Rob. I really like the pose and especially the raised far foot. Peter's post is a step forward. Would only add a little NR to the BG.

I like the pose, details and perch and Peter's repost is a big improvement. I only find the streaks in the BG distracting and would try to remove them.

Great image Rob, particularly given how tough this species is to get close to. Love the pose and the setting, and think the repost works a little better than the square crop (though I'll admit I'm not much of a fan of square crops either!). Really nice.
