Taken at Ft. Desoto this past June. Looks like it is taking a sip to wash down its' meal it had just swallowed. A very cooperative individual that was great fun to photograph! Light was getting harsh...but when you have never seen this species before you just snap away!!:)

Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exp., eval metering, 1/1250s., f/8, ISO400, no flash, handheld.

Nice feel to this. I like the angle of the bird and the water drops.

Like the pose, eye contact, and water drops on this one. I also like the diagonal composition.

The pose is great and I like the orange beak reflecting in the water. Fun birds!

The water trail coming off the bill is very nice I also like the good eye contact.

Can see the whole bird and none of the parts are over/under exposed.

Excellent image with great detail on the predominently B&W plumage. The diagonal angle of the bird and the water droplets all add to the interest.
