I've recently returned from 8 weeks in Australia. 5 of those weeks were spent doing bird photography all across northern Australia. I will post many Australian bird images over the next few weeks. Here is the first one.

Stunning bird Jim! Spectacular topside plumage! And nice exposure control. I only wish for a little more sharpening.

Jim,
I agree with Doug. Would you mind posting the exif? The out of focus branch on the left pulls my eyes away from the bird. Would love to see your shots from Australia.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Thanks - I added the exif data to the original post above.

Cool pose and eye contact. Another vote for more sharpening.

Great colour patterns on the wings. Agree re a bit more sharpening. Isn't Aussie a great place for birds!!

What a interesting looking bird I have never heard of.

I like the position of him in the frame and perfect wing position to showcase his markings.

Looks like some noise in the blacks as well as in the greens and on his rump. Another vote here for additional sharpening.

I think that a bit of sharpnening in the head might help this one, but still, love the back view of this lovely duck! Congratualitons!
