yeeessss! i vote for more photos of snakes in these forums! did you have any hairy moments setting it up? i assume its not captive?
the shot itself is good, i would , however, work on the reflections in the eye. just make that stare really connect i reckon!

Hey Stuart, snakes are cool critters to have right in your face. Their textured faces, and colors make for a cool image. Well done.

Thanks to all! This is an Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake & he is about 4ft long, striking distance is about half of their body length.

Outstanding! I like rattlers and this example is wonderful. It shows the "pit" well. Not to be too picky, but while the eye is wonderfully sharp I wish there were a tad more DOF on the nose scales. Still great image.
