The light was very contrasty and my first inclination was to lower the contrast in post. Then I had a rethink and kept the contrast in. I do quite like the neo-high key effect. Does it work for you? Oh and of course, the head angle isn't perfect.

40D + 400mm DO + 1.4 TC. Evaluative metering. Aperture priority. ISO 400, F7.1 @ 1/1000sec.

Many thanks for looking.

Cheers.

Great capture Sean. Like the placement in the frame and the details in the little one. Maybe just a tad of head turn. IMO

Sean, this is really a cute image and nicely composed. The HA is a bit off as mentioned but not too bad.

I think what you did here is really nice but I would suggest going even more high-key. Get the water to a whiter detail if you can and get away from the gray tones. I did a b&w conversion with a faded white frame around the image but you could do the same thing and mask off the bird, leaving him in full black/brown plumage.

Hi Sean - agree with the above - like the B&W conversion, if you were to leave it as colour - I would clean up the water a bit with some Quick Masks.

I like what Julie has done, think it suits the image very well.

Thanks all for the comments which are greatly appreciated. Julie, you have done a fine conversion but my personal preference is for colour. I do take on board the need to make the greyish water whiter though and to do some tidying up of it too.

Cheers.
