This is superb Alan. I don't think I have ever seen black feathers so well rendered in a photograph. Food in bill, perch, BG are all marvelous.

Alan,

What awesome light and great detail. Is that a young stick insect? Love the pine needles and the BG is superb.

Great Alan, love the pose, the eye contact, the color and BG, the insect is such a big plus, I would though try to tone down the Reds a bit. Congratualitons!

Great pose, especially with the snack! I like the perch and the framing of pine needles, too.

Another SUPERB image Alan. The insect on the bill is a great bonus and love the head turn, the eye contact and the fantastic BG. The DOF is stunning and I like the clipped pine needles at the top and bottom of the right. Additionally you were lucky enough to find a bird in perfect plumage condition! ;-)

Unreal, Alan. The stick insect is a huge bonus, very unique prey item! All told, probably the best shot I've seen of this species. Great stuff :)
