Hi,
Has anyone been to Tanzania after September 2007?
I was last there in January 2007. The Tanzanian web page:
http://www.tanzaniaembassy-us.org/tzevisa.html
seems to indicate things are more restrictive. Is that correct?
If you paid on arrival, what was your experience post 9/2007 versus pre?

Thanks for any info.

I did hear from some other photographers (not on this list) and it seems nothing has changed. But not liking the crush of people trying to get visas when getting off the plane, I sent in an application to the Tanzanian Embassy in Washington Last Sunday and had my visa by Friday. Very simple.

This is interesting. I was there in 2006 with a pre done visa just like your post above. We are going back in Feb 2010 and will prearrange again. That is what our travel agent helps us arrange.

My experience last January was that most people who got off the plane already had visas and the line for those people was huge. There were fewer people without visas and their line moved faster, and people in that line kept passing us. It was just the opposite in 2007. Oh well. At least this last time the fans seemed better.

No changes at all. Well, there have been a few changes, but not the process. Visas are now for 12 months, and the fee for Americans is $100 and most other countries is $50. I always purchase mine when I arrive, which ends up being the shorter of all of the lines. :-)
