James Shadle and I were checking out a location near the Anhinga Trail in the Everglades when we were suddenly surrounded by hundreds of these deer or horse flys. Of course, we grabbed our cameras, since they didn't seem inclined to want to bite us. They would alight for a moment or two on James' truck, then suddenly take off. I managed to get a couple photos. This one was rotated and cropped in Photoshop.
