A Japanese Maple - we don't have all that many really spectacular native fall colors in the Seattle lowlands, in comparison with the Northeast, so we have to compensate with some of the colorful varieties available at the nursery. We planted this one last week.....

10/21/2008 Canon XTi 400mm 5.6L 1/1250s f5.6 ISO 400 No additional color compensation.

Terry this is really beautiful. I love your composition and the depth of reds is very nice. One little nit would be to clean up that lower left corner where the tiny bit of red is popping it's head in the frame. Otherwise...love it!!!

Terry, I really like thes also. I think it's well executed! The leaves really look vivid and the light is perfect.

Hi Terry, nicely done! I love those colors! Only thing to whine about is indeed the red oof spot. The rest is perfect! Did you use flash to get that totally black background? It really adds to the power of the image.

Thanks for the comments and encouragment.
Jerry, no flash - it was taken in fairly bright sun but a shaded dark background that was underexposed and blurred by the 400mm. Image is essentially what came out of the camera - just cropped.
