Shot at the edge of a little stream in the woods. On this day the ice was just starting to form as it creates all kinds of interesting patterns. Shot with a Fuji S3 Pro, Sigma 180 macro, Tripod, f/32 at 2 sec.

I am reminded very strongly of fossils of those primitive marine creatures, their imprints in rock found along former sea costs.

Lovely.

Wow Mike, that is an interesting ice pattern. It reminds me of some fancy exhaust system on a motor cycle!!
very well seen and taken!

It is fascinating what images people are seeing in the patterns - to me it looks like a cross between the organic and industrial - somewhat like H.R. Giger, the german artist whose images were used for the Aliens movie. Mike, these wonderful ice shots almost make me want to come up there in the winter for a visit!

Emphasis on "cool"!!!! These are really beautiful and I love the abstracts found in nature. Do you generally shoot these with available light?

Hey Jim, all my images are shot with natural light, I have never used a flash.

I thought so, the natural light adds to the beauty - keep 'em coming!

It looks like a painting. It's a beautiful abstract photo. Just goes to show what is out there if you look.
