I got this photo last January, soon after getting my camera, while visiting my brother in FL. This is a wild Great Horn Owl which had been spending time in the trees at a raptor rehabilitation center. The workers guessed it was a female checking out the male they had in recuperation. I find the dark clump of what appears to be leaves behind the owl to be distracting. And this is a major crop, considering the only lens I had went up to 135mm. lol

what do you think?

Very nice composition Cheryl. You have excellent details on the owl, I would just try to lighten the owl a little.
Congrats

Cheryl , Your description is perfect- she really does look like she's wearing camo! I think you did a great job photographing her.

agree with OZ. would try to lighten the owl a little. i'd also loosen the crop. showing more habitat here wont hurt it at all. beautiful colors. love the owls!!

I lightened and cropped less. What do you think? Because of all the details in the foliage in this image, I had to reduce the quality to 50%.

What do you think??

that's definitely colorful!!! and it takes the emphasis away from that blob beside the owl. personally, i'd go for something between the two as far as the crop.
