Hi
These can often be found perching on fence posts, as this one is, around the local fields in the spring on their migration northwards. This shot of a male bird was taken from car using a 1Dmk2N and 500mm lens at ISO 160 F5.6 1/800s and 0.33 EV.

Beautiful bird! I like the angle, details and BG. I might crop a bit off the bottom.

What a good looking little bird. Love the composition and complimentary colors. There's a nice pose. Good detail and colors as well. I rather like images of birds on fence posts. They are a part of their environment and have made good use of them. It also reminds me of a kid growing up on a farm.....seeing the different types of birds perched on the fence posts. Today there are no fence posts.....and also few birds.

Hi Rich,
Nice job on this image. I like the sharpness with all the feather details apparent. The pose and bg are nice too. Not nits from me.

Thanks for the replies. My main reason for searching the area where I took this shot was to look for migrant yellow wagtails, however I am never one to turn down an opportunity with a Northern Wheatear.
Cheers
